April 2017

Aloha!
It is estimated that by 2035, Hawai‘i’s older adult population (those who are 60 years or older) will represent about 30% of our total population. Nearly a third of us living in the islands will be older adults.

Hawai‘i Meals on Wheels is already seeing the beginning of this trend: More than 70% of our clients are between 80 and 99 years old, and the median age of our clients is 86 years old.

A New Record in Meal Deliveries This Year
As Hawai‘i’s senior population grows, the need for home-delivered meals also grows. This year, we plan to deliver a record number of meals: 100,000 meals. That’s 2,850 more meals than last year. Delivering more meals means our costs to cover these additional meals increases. Now, more than ever, your support is important.

Committed to Serving Kūpuna
We provide meals to all eligible recipients, regardless of their income or ability to donate. We never deny anyone a hot, nutritious meal. Your donation is used to pay for the meals we purchase from our kitchen partners in the community.

Your Gift Makes a Difference
Please consider a gift to Hawai‘i Meals on Wheels so that we can continue to serve kūpuna and disabled homebound individuals who are in need. Home-delivered meals enable kūpuna and those who are disabled to live independently in their own homes. Please consider making a tax-deductible contribution to Hawai‘i Meals on Wheels by clicking the link below. Your gift will allow us to continue serving our kūpuna and disabled homebound individuals in communities across Oahu.

On behalf of all of our clients and their families, mahalo for your support!

Sincerely,
Michelle
