Kupuna need human connection.

People to talk story with and laugh. People to ask them questions and to help them when they can’t do something themselves.

At Hawai’i Meals on Wheels, that’s the work we do. A lifeline with nutritious food along with personal nourishment.

No Hungry Kupuna

We sustain the health of kūpuna who are living longer lives with chronic, debilitating health conditions. For those who do not qualify for government-funded programs and cannot afford our low-cost option, Hawai’i Meals on Wheels fully sponsors qualified individuals. Throughout the pandemic, we saw a 30% increase in participation in our safety-net program.

Medically-Tailored Meals

We are the only non-profit in the state offering home-delivered and medically-tailored meals. We serve individuals with a broad range of health conditions who require therapeutic diets. Working with our clients care providers, we offer chopped, minced, and pureed diets for those who have difficulty chewing or who need renal, diabetic, low sodium, and high calorie meals.

Areas We Serve

We serve over 1,000 clients throughout Oahu. Monday through Friday, our meal delivery staff along with hundreds of volunteers pick-up meals from 1 1 kitchen partners and deliver hot and frozen meals to clients on 80 routes. Our clients live throughout Oahu – from Hawai’i Kai to Ewa, Pearl City to Waianae, Waipahu, Kaneohe, Kailua, and Waimanalo.

The variety is unbelievable! Where can you get roast turkey, mashed potatoes, and gravy with salad and then lemon chicken the following day?

For seniors, especially men like myself who aren’t the best cooks in the world, Hawai‘i Meals on Wheels has been a Godsend.

Dozens and dozens of caregivers cycled in and out since my accident. Hawai‘i Meals on Wheels became a part of my life at just the right time.

No one is available to take care of me if I get COVID-19. I was scared. Thank goodness for Hawai‘i Meals on Wheels. I don’t know what I would do otherwise.

Thank you for your kindness and the delicious meals! My son David and I appreciate all of you. P.S. He’s getting better each day!
