The highlight of our 2017 Volunteer Appreciation Luncheon was a performance by volunteer and former board member Lot Lau of his own composition, “Holoholo Ka’a with Hawai’i Meals on Wheels.” Lot played the guitar and was accompanied by our own Mike Lundy on the bass guitar.

Here are the lyrics so you can sing along next time:

Kaua i ka Holoholo Ka’a
(You and I on a happy ride)

Oni Ani Ka Huila Lawe a Lillo
(Wheels turning, carrying us far away)

Ku’u Aku oe Pau Pono
(Just let yourself completely relax)

Na Huahelu E Kau Ana
(Count the miles.)

Taking hot meals to homebound folks
Climbing up stairs is easy
Feeling great while doing good
With Hawai’i Meals on Wheels.

Wear your ID, don’t worry ’bout dogs,
Step on the gas, don’t park on the grass
Feeling great while doing good
With Hawai’i Meals on Wheels.

Our service is welcome, it’s plain to see,
On faces of clients we serve each day
Feeling great while doing good
With Hawai’i Meals on Wheels!
With Hawai’i Meals on Wheels!
