Hawaii Meals on Wheels is looking for volunteers to help deliver meals to seniors in need in Central Oahu.

Every weekday, HMOW manages 48 routes, each covering four to 13 kupuna, delivering a hot lunch to those who are unable to leave their homes to shop or cook their own food.

Institutional kitchens (including A Catered Experience and Pearl City Nursing Home) prepare the meals, which are required to meet strict nutritional standards.

The organization has more than 400 volunteers right now, but it needs more help. HMOW expects to serve almost 100,000 meals this year, up from 97 ,000 in 2016. Deliveries take approximately 60-90 minutes per route, and. most volunteers take on one route a week.
