💙🚗🍽 During National Volunteer Appreciation Month, weʻre celebrating our fabulous volunteers! Responding to emergency needs throughout the island, our HMoW volunteers helped reach hundreds of new clients during the pandemic. We expanded from a couple dozen routes in 2019 to 39 daily hot meal routes and 35 weekly frozen meal routes in 2021 – all thanks to our dedicated volunteers!
The gratitude of our clients speak of volumes about our volunteersʻ kindness and generosity:
"Your delivery staff and volunteers give joy to us with just their smiles and taking time to bring my husband and me meals. It is a great help to us and the spirit of the delivery people adds to your generosity. Words cannot express our mahalo for all you do!" shared Kalihi residents John and Moana.

In 2021, our Hawai‘i Meals on Wheels volunteers helped ensure kūpuna receive proper nutrition while they remained safely at home. This past year, we were delighted to see our long-time drivers reconnecting with clients as they returned to their routes, and we are so grateful for the volunteers who have carried us through lockdowns and changes in operations with positivity and adaptability.
We ended the year with over 250 volunteers serving on dozens of routes throughout O‘ahu! We couldn't have done it without you!
