When Hawai’i Meals on Wheels was founded 35 years ago, we started with six volunteers and served six meal recipients. Last year we served more than 86,500 hot meals to homebound elderly and disabled neighbors.
Without the generosity and dedication of more than 450 volunteers, we would not be able to accomplish this huge task. Every client is served a hot meal at either lunch or dinner. The volunteers bring a friendly visit and check to ensure that our frail neighbors are safe in their homes.
Our volunteers are our heroes and heroines, and this year we honored these wonderful men and women for ensuring that no one went hungry or was lonely:
