Volunteer drivers are needed to deliver hot, nutritious meals and provide caring human contact for homebound elderly and disabled individuals.

To be a Hawai‘i Meals on Wheels Volunteer Delivery Driver, a volunteer must:
  • Be available at least one day a week (Monday through Friday) for 1 1/2 to 2 hours during a lunch or dinner period. Team members can rotate, so individuals deliver only once a month or as agreed upon in team schedule.
  • Have a car, valid automobile insurance, and safety sticker.
  • Be a safe driver and follow all traffic rules and laws.
  • Be able to walk up stairs as needed.
  • Be willing to make a minimum six month commitment.
  • Be patient, reliable, responsible and friendly. You may be the ONLY person that an HMoW client sees during the day and may be providing his/her ONLY hot meal for the day.
  • Be committed to the Hawai'i Meals on Wheels mission of providing hot, nutritious meals and daily human contact to the homebound.
  • Benefits of volunteering:
    • The IRS allows volunteers to claim volunteer mileage for tax purposes. Check with your tax preparer or the IRS for the most current information.
    • HMoW purchases liability insurance for volunteers while they are performing their assigned duties. (Coverage does NOT extend to automobile use.)
    • Your biggest benefit will be the sense of satisfaction you will receive from making a difference in the lives of people who need you!
